Often we find ourselves in very difficult situations. It surely feels like the winds and waves are too much to bear for our boat. As Christians we want to believe that the Lord is there, but we still feel fearful. We still stare at our problem, trial or difficulty. Our hearts want answers or want comfort – we desire calm waters. But these winds and waves reveal an important truth in our heart: If we are scared its because our eyes are placed on something other than Jesus. We have a double stance: Taking care of our life and Jesus take care of my life.
Believe Him when He says: I AM. At the mention of those words, your heart, like mine, should rest.
Atonement: In this bible study we study Leviticus Chapter 1: 1-17. The Lord Jesus died in the cross for you and for me: how valuable is that in your life?
In this bible study we look at how trials and difficulties in the Christian’s life are used to prove that you are dying to your own desires and placing God as the Lord of your life.
In this bible study, we study the two different kinds of wisdom that we have available to us. And it reminds us that when we are thirsty, we must drink fresh water not salty.
The wisdom of this world can only explain so much, the eternal wisdom of our Lord Jesus Christ is true refreshing water.
What God does, doesn’t always make sense to us. Our minds can’t comprehend the ways of the Lord. He is higher in understanding than us. Therefore, waiting to understand Him, before you trust Him makes no sense. Trust Him blindly and you will be rewarded with seeing His love move in you.
The Pharisees had a faith that was considered only lip-service. No substance whatsoever to what they were saying. Is your faith more than just seashore and goes deep into the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ? My desire is that it does.
Is there any reason to act wisely? Is there any purpose to learn God’s ways and to act according to what He has revealed to us? Some Christians believe that since God is going to operate his will anyways, that there is no need to act wisely. God gave us His wisdom for a reason.
Mark 10:17 – …”Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone…
From Ravi Zacharias, I understood this very principle: Jesus starts his answer with a question. A question that will of course make Nicodemus have to decide: Either I am really seeking an answer, or I am just fooling myself because I have already made up my mind. If Jesus is good, and only God is good (specially for a Pharisee) then there is no other choice: Jesus is God. And if you are asking God for the answer, are you willing to listen to it?
We are the same way: We often come to God with an expectation of our duty and a place for him in our hearts. When he asks from us EVERYTHING, we walk away troubled: ALL OR NOTHING, SELL EVERYTHING.
Bread comes at the sacrifice of the wheat. Wine comes at the sacrifice of the grape. Our Lord Jesus have his life as a living sacrifice for us – so we are not hungry or thirsty. Let’s remain in the True Vine.
Romans 3:19: Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Clearly not one of us can say something when it comes to breaking the law. We are all accountable to God because we all have sinned and we all must die for our sins – that is the decree of the law. Thankfully we have access to a new covenant – one of grace and truth in Jesus Christ.
Speak with Authority gives us some insight into the difference, often forgotten, between power and authority. Power is given to us by God to administrate his blessings, authority on the other hand is the power of God and He allows us to speak in his name – as if He was present. We can speak not with our power alone to our problems and difficulties, we can speak with His power.
